One night Adrian received a message from a young woman, asking advice on how to navigate life after abuse.

“Dear Cowgirl…” she wrote back in response, and tapped into that deep well of advice that only personal experience can create. She later modified that reply and published it on social media as an open letter to fellow domestic violence survivors.

Thus Dear Cowgirl was born.

Part poetry and part advice, Dear Cowgirl: Letters to Women reads like a compilation of advice from your best friend.

Adrian reminds you of your worth and purpose in life, and occasionally even dishes out some tough love for those days when you need it. Adrian truly believes that survivors of sexual assault and violence need to come together not just in word, but also in deed by comforting one another verbally and physically and encouraging each other through the bad days. She also knows that life can be difficult, and outside of abuse and violence there is a need for encouragement and hope in each and every one of our lives.

Dear Cowgirl is a love letter to anyone, male or female, who needs it. It is a reminder you are worth protecting and caring for and a friend to turn to in moments of need.

“Dear Cowgirl, Please remember, you are so worth loving and protecting.”
