Elko Will Survive....

What a gift it was to head back to Elko NV for the 40th National Cowboy Poetry Gathering!

My best pard, Dick Gibford and I, roadtripped from Cuyama CA to Northern NV and had a ball drinking coffee, swapping poems and sharing stories. It was such a beautiful treat to take to the stage with him after almost a decade, and given our history (Dick was one of the first people to hold me as a baby!) our closing show at the Western Folklife Center called "I held You as a Pup" was so special. We also got a chance to share the stage with our friends Dave and Tris Munsick, and new pals Jessie and Gene Veeder!

If you haven't made the trek...you better put next year's 41st National Cowboy Poetry Gathering on your calendar...it's the granddaddy of them all!
